Trying a custom 960×544  HDMI mode with a 480×272 panel

After changing /boot/config.txt I was carefully watching the Raspberry Pi reboot:

Definitely better than the 1080p scaling, but still not really clear enough for use.

How about the desktop?

Not bad at all!

How about the start menu?

It was quite readable, better than the photo.

How does the file manager look when scaled to 960×544?

The text is not great due to the small font, but overall, it is usable!

How does raspberrypi.org look?

Pretty good! I’d say it was usable.

What about the window settings? It was unusable at 480×272.

If we could only scroll the desktop it would be quite usable.

How about LXTerminal?

Quite usable! Especially if you reduce it to 20 lines of text.

I wonder… would the calculator be usable?

YES, it is usable.

I’d say using a scaled 960×544 mode is quite useful, especially for desktop / web applications.

The little HDMI to LCD adapter board is quite impressive in my opinion.

I wonder if 480×544 might even be better?
